For the entire month of January - through February 6, to be specific - Arby's will sell what it calls the "spiciest sandwich on the market." The sandwich in question? The new Diablo Dare Sandwich, which brave buyers can order with either chicken or beef brisket. The sandwich costs $5.99 and also comes with a free, 12-ounce vanilla milkshake to help reduce the burn. And you'll need it! After all, the sandwich is hot from not one but five sources of spice: hot seasoning, ghost pepper jack cheese, fire-roasted jalapenos, spicy BBQ sauce, and even a red chipotle bun. Yes, you read that right: even the bun is spicy!
Needless to say, "this is not a sandwich for the faint of heart," proclaimed chief marketing officer of Arby's, Patrick Schwing, in a recent press release. "Everyone in the quick service restaurant industry says they have a spicy option, but our research tells us that consumers are disappointed by fast food claims of spicy."
Despite all the recent additions to the fast-food chicken sandwich wars, this is something new. You see, sandwich fans have been searching for something genuinely spicy, as most fast-food chains shy away from truly spicy foods. But does it live up to the hype? Let's find out...
So Spicy You Need A Free Shake

With the new Diablo Dare Sandwich, Arby's truly hopes to become the king of spicy sandwiches. While chains like Wendy's, Burger King, Popeye's, and McDonald's have introduced spicier versions of their chicken sandwiches, Arby's says that those are nothing compared to their new offering.
"Everyone in quick-serve restaurants say they have a spicy option, but our research tells us that consumers are disappointed by fast-food claims of spicy. We took that as a challenge by making sure all different types of spicy—the hot, the numbing, and the lingering—are combined to make the Diablo Dare a true test of how much heat you can handle … setting a new standard of spice," Schwing explained to the blog Eat This Not That.
But here's the real question: how is the new Diablo Dare Sandwich? Well, according to Yahoo! News Food Reviews: "Overall, we gave the sandwich a 3.5/5 on the spice scale. Spicy but not 'mouth-on-fire, chug vanilla milkshake immediately' spicy."
