The Girl Scouts of America are never ones to rest on their laurels. Even amidst an ongoing pandemic, the organization has debuted a new cookie flavor, called Adventurefuls. Now, the reviews are in - read on to see if it's worth picking up!
Girl Scouts Take It Up A Notch
That's right! The new Girl Scout cookie will debut in 2022, during cookie season! "Available nationwide, every bite of Adventurefuls is full of indulgent brownie-inspired flavor with a combination of chocolatey and caramel flavors, and smooth and crispy textures, for an incredible taste of adventure in every bite," the Girl Scouts said in a news release. 15 cookies will come in a box. The new cookie will debut alongside new badges for organization members. Most notably, the "Cookie Business Badge" will "help girls think like entrepreneurs as they run their own cookie businesses and incorporate online sales via the Digital Cookie platform," the statement read.
While new cookies rarely come out, the Girl Scouts have changed that recently. In 2021, the organization also launched the new, French toast-inspired cookie Toast-Yay! So, Toast-Yay! and Adventurefuls join the iconic lineup: Thin Mints, Lemon-Ups, Lemonades, Shortbread/Trefoils, Caramel deLites/Samoas, Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs, Do-si-dos/Peanut Butter Sandwich, Toffee-tastic (these are gluten-free), Caramel Chocolate Chip, and Girl Scout S'mores. Thankfully, it seems that the Girl Scouts never want to stop supplying us with delicious cookies!
While Adventurefuls will not debut until next year, some lucky Girl Scout fans have already tried to new treat. Read on to see what they thought...
Adventurefuls Joins The Lineup
So, do the new Adventurefuls stand up against Girl Scout classics like Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalong? Well, the food reviewers over at The Take out certainly think so! "The cookie portion is on the thicker end—noticeably more so than, say, Thin Mints—with a not-too-intense chocolate flavor," they wrote. "I'd be hard-pressed to describe them as brownie-like other than the chocolate aspect, but that's not a knock."
However, before you run out and grab a box of Adventurefuls, there are a few things you should know. Most importantly, coronavirus changed the way we receive cookies. Previously, Girl Scouts would distribute the cookies to friends and family, as well as sell the cookies outside of many local grocery stores. However, in the take of COVID-19, the organization has suspended all in-person sales and cookie booths. They may return in the future, but do not hold your breath. Instead, you'll need to head online and buy them. Thankfully, you can make sure your money goes to a local chapter of the Girl Scouts, and you can even attribute the sales to a particular Scout.
So, head online, purchase a box of Adventurefuls, and try them for yourself!
