Love french fries but hate soggy ones? Well, you'll love Wendy's then! The fast-food company has decided to upgrade to a "delivery-friendly" French fries. What does that mean? Read on to find out!
Wendy’s New Fry Recipe
Wendy's, one of the most popular fast-food chains in the U.S., has announced that it has been working hard to make delivery-friendly French fries! Apparently, these new french-fries will make them stay crispier and hotter longer. “These fries are a cut above the rest – literally,” said Emily Kessler, Wendy’s senior specialist of culinary and innovation, explaining that fries are built differently. "One side is built for heat retention and the other for crispiness."
Of course, the reason Wendy's has been working so hard on these is that fast-food has been upended by coronavirus. No longer is sitting in the restaurant a viable option for most Americans. Instead, drive-thru and delivery sales have skyrocketed across the country. So now, companies are doing their best to create foods that will withstand a drive to the consumer. Hence, the Hot & Crispy Fries, as Wendy’s called them. “It’s a new day for fries at Wendy’s,” John Li, Wendy's vice president of culinary innovation, said. “We were able to deliver a crispier fry, that is preferred nearly 2-to-1 over our biggest competitor McDonald’s.”
But United States residents are not the only ones getting Wendy's new Hot & Crispy Fries...
Delivery-Friendly French Fries
Believe it or not, Wendy's executives feel so confident with their new Hot & Crispy Fries that the brand already plans to go global with them! That's right! The fries will hit Canada and Mexico later this year. Meanwhile, Wendy's also plans on releasing a new Big Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger alongside the fries. The burger features Applewood smoked bacon, a custom bacon sauce, crispy onions, American cheese, and cheddar cheese spread on a toasted cheddar bun. It’s a part of Wendy’s “Made to Crave” collection, along with the Bourbon Bacon Cheeseburger and Jalapeno Popper Chicken Sandwich.
“The sandwich is inspired by elevated Southern food, things like pimento cheese that we’re seeing everywhere – from fine dining to food trucks,” said Jay Drumm, senior specialist, culinary and product development. Sounds delicious!
