Saweetie Collabs With McDonald’s
Over the past few months, McDonald's has partnered with various celebrities around the globe, bringing the celebs' favorite meals to their fans. Most recently, they created a signature meal with the Korean boy band BTS. Now, rapper Saweetie meal, "The Saweetie Meal," will debut on August 9. It includes a Big Mac, four-piece Chicken McNuggets, medium fries, a medium Sprite, and a new BBQ sauce, called "Saweetie' N Sour Sauce."
For those who don't know, Saweetie has become quite famous online for her strange food combinations. From Hot Cheetos and pizza to spaghetti and ranch, she's tried it all. So the rapper took to Instagram Live to assure everyone that she put a lot of thought into her McDonald's meal. "I like have dreams about recipes and when I make them, they taste good," she said. "I'm just really a foodie, y'all, don't mind me."
"With the rap game on lock, Saweetie is coming for the food game with a meal that was made to be remixed," McDonald's says of the Saweetie Meal on its website. Saweetie says her love of McDonald's comes from childhood. She's always wanted to work with the company, long before she had 17.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify! "McDonald's and I run deep—from growing up back in Hayward, California, all through my college days—so I had to bring my icy gang in on my all-time favorites," Saweetie said in a statement about the meal. "Depending on the mood I'm in, there are so many ways to enjoy my order. I like to keep things fresh—I know that's right." However you choose to eat her meal, you have Saweetie's backing!
Expect plenty more celebrity meals in the future. After all, the celebrity meals have helped boost McDonald's' sales while every other fast-food chain continues to fight in the chicken sandwich wars. For instance, after creating a meal with the boy band BTS, McDonald's saw an explosion in sales: they grew a whopping 25.9% last quarter! The meal also had a massive impact on social media. And, of course, many of those customers have returned time and time again.
"We saw significant lifts in McNuggets sales and record breaking levels of social engagement," said CEO Chris Kempczinski. Likewise, the J Balvin and Travis Scott meals also saw significant sales. In fact, the latter caused some locations to run out of the meal it became so popular. So expect this celebrity-endorsed meal plan to continue. It's certainly working!
