Social media certainly has its pros and cons. One of its biggest pros, however, is probably not what you think. Social media can give us a greater understanding of social feelings and statistics. For example, data from Twitter helped researched determine the most hated fast-food chains in the world!
The Most Hated Fast-Food Chains
RAVE Reviews, a platform that reviews different products and services, gathered a team to analyze tweets from around the world to rate fast-food spots. To do so, they used the analysis tool SentiStrength and analyzed more than a million posts. Then, once the tweets were analyzed, they ranked the restaurants by how many negative reviews each chain had. Not only did they determine the most fast-food chain in the world, but the team also figured out which fast-food giant each country hated the most. Some might surprise you! For instance, Lebanon hates Starbucks. That's right! Meanwhile, Australia hates Wendy's! McDonald's and Subway rounded out the other top spots, except for number one, of course...
So, what's the world's most hated fast-food brand? KFC! It took the number one spot, the most hated brand in a whopping 14 countries. New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, France, Singapore, and Turkey all hate KFC more than everyone else. One tweet seemed to encapsulate how almost everyone felt: "Every time I eat KFC, I feel v sick afterwards, and I just want to know why god, what did I do to deserve this?"
What's the most hate in the United States? Well, it's not KFC. In fact, the answer might surprise you...
Pizza? No, Thanks
When it comes to the United States, people don't hate KFC the most. After all, it is KENTUCKY Fried Chicken. While Americans love pizza as much as the rest of the world, but they don't love all pizza. In the U.S., Domino's ended up the most hated fast-food chain in the country. More than 40% of tweets sent to Domino's were all highly negative. According to Blake Adams, one of the RAVE Reviews researchers, also revealed that Domino's was accused of many different downsides, including the quality of the food, customer service, terrible delivery, and more.
"Looks like @dominos is now in the scamming business. First they make me wait for an hour after issuing a notification that the pizza is out for delivery. Then while I continuously track, they update the order to delivered without actually delivering the order," one upset customer posted to Twitter, mentioning that they had to wait for 30 minutes on the phone before the customer service hung up. "So now I'm $40 down, still hungry and wasted 2 hours in the day for an order that never arrived. This is ridiculous."
Previously, Burger King wore the crown for the most hated fast-food chain in the world. This year, however, the company can feel proud of itself - it's no longer even in the top five of the list! However, KFC and Domino's now need to watch themselves and make some profound changes if they don't want to end up in the same place next year.
