It seems Queen Elizabeth is not as tame as we all thought. Believe it or not, she plans on releasing her own beer! Made with her approval every step of the way, read on to discover one of the strangest and rarest beers in the world!
Queen Elizabeth Shares New Beer
That's right! Queen Elizabeth wants the masses to enjoy more beer - so she created her own. In fact, Queen Elizabeth not only signed off on the taste, but allows beer makers to grow the barley on the royal's Sandringham estate in Norfolk. Barsham Brewery will produce the beer, using organic Laureate Spring barley. Barsham will make two varieties: one a cold-filtered bitter, the other a Golden IPA. The two bottles feature a hare and a pheasant on the front, a reference to where they were created.
"Made in the UK for the Sandringham Estate," the label reads. "The Sandringham Estate is a wildlife haven for Pheasants, Hares, Owls and many other species thrive in the wood and farmland habitats." Incredibly, the beer will not mark Queen Elizabeth's foray into the world of alcohol...
Adding A New Gin Flavor
Even before releasing these two beers, Queen Elizabeth has released her own gin! Just like the beer, The Celebration Gin is made in a distillery on the estate. Likewise, Buckingham Palace has produced its own gin since last year, using ingredients from Queen's backyard no less!
In addition to the new beers, the Royal Collection Trust charity also announced a new gin flavor. "Hand picked whole sloe berries are steeped in our classic Buckingham Palace gin, to give this sloe gin a unique and intense fruit flavor," the description of the new gin reads, adding that plums, cranberries, and cloves have been added for an even lovelier flavor. Do these beers and gins sound good? Unfortunately, there's only one place you can pick them up: official British Royal Family gift shops.
Only For The U.K.
For those interested in the beers, one can pick them up at the Sandringham Estate gift shop at $5.50 for a 500ml bottle. Meanwhile, you can purchase the Queen's gin goes for $41 a bottle at the Buckingham Palace gift shop. The Royal Collection Trust charity stated that the proceeds from the gin will go towards saving and restoring the Queen's collection of art. Currently, the Palace has yet to announce what it will use the beer funds for.
Meanwhile, it seems that the Queen also had a drinking buddy for many years. While the Queen never goes a day without a daily cocktail of gin and Dubonnet, her recently passed husband, Prince Philip, also loved a good beer. Perhaps this new release is for him? Prince Harry confirmed as much in a recent statement. "He has been a rock for Her Majesty The Queen with unparalleled devotion, by her side for 73 years of marriage," he said. "While I could go on, I know that right now he would say to all of us, beer in hand, 'Oh do get on with it!'"
