Kids don’t put up lemonade stands anymore – they grill meat now! Two brothers, eight and nine years old, built their own burger stand, and are currently selling over 200 burgers a week.
Famous Boone’s Burger Stand
Two young boys from Crandon, Wisconsin are managing their own business – a burger stand. Boone's Burger Stand, managed by eight- and nine-year-old is on the roll. While one of the brothers cooks, another one plans their next steps. Who are the heroes of street food? Boone Evans and Gatlin, who set up their first burger stand a year ago. Now, most Saturdays are busy for the boys. Instead of enjoying playful fights with other children, these two love cooking and selling. According to Wisconsin news station WJFW, they sell around 200 burgers every week, as well as a lot of iconic “popsicle tea.” After all, the latter is their own creation. You can’t find tea like that outside the Boone’s stand.
Although the guys are successful in the city now, they had to face major inconveniences in the past. For example, Evans and Gatlin had their grill stolen once! “When I got my grill stolen, the day I got really sad about it,” Evans said. Thankfully, one businessman heard about the devastating story and replaced the grill as soon as possible. “I thought to myself, ‘Man, this is an opportunity to help this guy out,'” said Bob Morrison, owner, and operator of Mac Daddy Lawn Care. Even the local recreational deputy for the Forest County Sheriff’s Department, Chad Mullins, told Morrison about it. “It was sitting here the first few days and then the last day is when I noticed it was missing,” Mullins commented.
Reaching Big Goals
Now, with the grill back on the stand thanks to Morrison, two brothers are back to business. Yet, their cooking process is not just about money – it’s also based on meeting different people and making them happy. Indeed, the Boone bros are enjoying what they do every Saturday. “My favorite part is when people leave with a smile,” Evans told WJFW. “Just making food. It makes me happy, so we want to continue on doing this,” said Gatlin. Want a Boone burger? Well, head to their stand on Saturdays while it’s still warm out. Their burgers are worth trying, for sure. In just a year, the boys managed to grow the grill empire while being little kids, and their skills are already unmatched.
When it gets cold, the boys will be back home, counting the cash they earned on the weekends. Yet, when it comes to money, what do these little children plan to do with the hard-earned cash? Although small, Evans and Gatlin have huge dreams and goals. In addition to expanding their business, the littles focus on tech and vehicles. “I’m saving up for a snowmobile and then after that a Jeep,” Gatlin said.
We'll see how the process goes – with as many as 200 visitors weekly, this goal will be reached soon! Let's hope the grill doesn't get stolen again, though. Otherwise, the locals are ready to defend their icons.
