It seems as though Taco Bell will never miss a reason to celebrate - and give customers a discount. This time around, they are celebrating a beautiful half-moon, which they're calling a Taco Moon, with a little bonus to customers ordering on May 4!
Taco Bell’s New Campaign
Looking for something to do on May 4? Well, of course, you could celebrate Star Wars Day, as in "May the 4th be with you." You can also head down to Taco Bell and enjoy one free Crunchy Taco on them. That's right! Due to the beautiful half-moon that will rise in the sky that night, one that will look remarkably like a taco, Taco Bell wanted to celebrate. So, anyone that orders under the so-called "Taco Moon" will receive a free Crunchy Taco from the fast-food giant.
Here's the specific deets: citizens from the United States, United Kingdom, India, Australia, and various other countries can participate in the deal. All they need to do is head to their local Taco Bell between 8 PM and 11:59 PM local time. No matter what they order, even if it's just a drink, they will earn a free taco. It's that easy. As such, Taco Bell says it expects to distribute more free tacos on May 4 than ever.
Celebrating Taco Moon With Free Food
"A new lunar phase is on the horizon," read Taco Bell's social media announcement about the Taco Moon promotion. "On Tuesday, May 4th, we're celebrating the Taco Moon by giving you a Free Crunchy Taco. Get yours all day when you order online or through the app, or in-store from 8 PM - 11:59 PM."
Why would Taco Bell push such a strange promotion? Well, it's pretty simple, actually! "We wanted a big experience together, so that had the team thinking what is global and affects everyone, but what also can be local," said Nikki Lawson, Taco Bell's chief brand officer, in a recent interview with CNN. She added that Taco Bell wants "whole world craving tacos because [the moon] looks just like a Taco Bell taco."
After a challenging year for all businesses, fast food included, Taco Bell feels ready to take on the challenge. In fact, they want to make sure millions of customers worldwide can take part in this deal!
Sky Billboard
Taco Bell wanted to make sure that everyone around the globe could earn free tacos. From Bollywood stars in India to "taconautas" in Guatemala, the company is pushing this incredible promotion everywhere it can. "[Last year] was a difficult year for a lot of our markets," said Julie Felss Masino, president of Taco Bell's international unit. "Taco Bell is a such distinctive brand that we're taking a moment to have the world's largest influencer be a billboard in the sky."
Of course, the publicity does not hurt either. After all, by 2030, Taco Bell wants to have 10,000 stores open around the world. Currently, it has 7,072 locations across 26 countries. Masino finished by saying, "As we're opening more and more restaurants internationally, we know the May 4 moon will take us to new 'heights' as we introduce ourselves to new future fans in a delicious way." It seems like a good idea!
